I finally got my keyless entry to work in my 1993 VW jetta but i noticed that if I lock and unlock the car multiple times in a row (4 or more) the wire that goes to the lock switch part, from the brain, is getting very hot.  Is this normal when the car is locked/unlocked repeatedly?

Since it is a vacuum lock sytem it uses a 4 second pulse, could this be the reason?  Should i worry about this?

It is the wire from terminal 87a of the extermal relay that is gettin hot.  Check it out below.

the wire from the vacuum pump to the door switches i used was the RED / black wire.

OK i just realized something... it doesnt matter how many times i unlock/lock the doors the wire is just getting really hot like power wont stop running through the wire. I disconnected it in fear of fires.  What may the problem be?

What wire colors did you use and where in the car did you tap the keyless entry wires to ?

I taped into the BLACK/ red wire right at the vacuum pump.  Sould i have done it at the drivers kick pannel?

why would it make a difference?

I noticed now that my driver door does not lock with the vacuum system anymore and has to be manually locked.  It turns out there is a resistor that got so hot it melted a hole in my drivers door lock.

It's just the the wires at the switch would power a relay that would send a signal to the pump to activate the lock and unlock. According to some of the notes that i have, the Jetta uses a (+) trigger wire to activate the relays for the pump. You didn't have to go straight to the pump according to the wiring information that I have.

But would going straight to the pump have caused this?

i am using a positive pulse

On the diagram that you have, what is the " DOOR LOCK HARNESS " module suppose to be ? Is this on the car or is this the module that you have installed into the Jetta ?? I ask because all the other systems that I have installed into where I had to go tot he pump, I used 2 relays, not one.

It is my ungo ms2004 alarm.

The diagram i have is what te install manual said to do.

How would i wire it up with 2 relays?

Keep in mind I must be a positive output.  Also that the wires coming off the DOOR LOCK HARNESS are the wires i have to work with from the alarm.

Im pretty sure the alarm has one built in relay.  I think this is why all the wires coming off it are labeld like a realy.

Also It was the wire that goes to the door locks that got very hot.

The first relay pin 86 is your alarm's LOCK (-) output and the second relay pin 85 goes to the UNLOCK (-) output of the alarm

Which LOCK (-) output should i use from my alarm?
Lock 87a (normally closed) or Lock 30 (common)

Which UNLOCK(-) output should i use from my alarm?
Unlock 87a (normally closed) or Unlock 30 (common)

Any what do i do with the last wire the Lock/Unlock 87 (normally closed) wire?

Do i just tape the ends of the other wires and not use them?

Sorry for so many questions.

For get it.  the original diagram works now.  Im not sure why it burnt up a resistor and melted a hole in my door locks but now that i ripped the resistor out she works perfectly.
