using the remote start i go to start the car and it cranks a half crank and stops few seconds later it tries again does a half crank again and stops. So last night i reprogram the tac and it works fine then again this morning it does the same old half of crank thing. Anyone know what this is or why this is happening?TIA..

What kind of car? Maybe it has a security system that you have to bypass?
Also, if you programmed it for tach, are you sure it's in tach mode? Sounds like it's still programmed for tachless, or you're not using a good tach source. ------------- Q: What's the best nation in the world?

definatly try what CPGOOSE has posted, but here is some more info that might help you out as well..
if your tach source does not have enough voltage, the audiovox units will be very inconsistant with starting, your best bet is to test your tach source with a dmm, and if the voltage is really low, like on some cars they are. then just grab an injector wire and you should be fine, provided all the rest of your wiring is good. i had the same problem with a new altima with a 996, i had the tach wire hooked up to one of the coils, and the car was inconsistant with starting, as soon as i hooked my tach up to one of the injector wires, it worked flawlessly.

mike this is in a maxima probably has the same motor and stuff as your altima its a 3.5 i bought the car with this in it already so im not sure about how they have it hooked up. Do you know what wire on what injector or the color or anything. Also does anyone know how to take it out of tac mode and use tachess. I didnt see anything in any of the manuals about it TIA

you can use any odd color injector wire for a tach soure, to use the tachless mode on the 996 it is feature 4- input check, default is tach. should be on page 18 of your installation manual
