Has anyone had problems using the IPP03 bypass module on PASSLOCK 1 equipped cars? I tried using them on 2 different Cavaliers with no success. On the last two Sunfires that I did, I used Omega's DB-PL2002 and they worked flawlessly.

Most problems with non functioning IPPME ( or IPP03  modules ) is not having the proper bulb test wire. There are usually 3 BLACK wires in the ignition harness and you have to get the right one.

Actually most problems with the IPP03 are that they are JUNK. Complete trash send them back. Passlock 1, passlock 2, it doesn't matter they are junk. IPPME on the other hand is still one of my favorites.

I know it's not the test bulb wire because I just replaced the IPP03 with an Omega DB-PL2002 and used the same black wire for the test bulb and it worked flawlessly. I tried one of the IPP03 units that didn't work on the Cavys on a 1998 Lumina (VATS) and it worked like it should.

I guess along with trashing a product I should offer some explanation to that opinion so hear it goes..

I'd say about 20% of the time the IPP03 will work and function the way it's supposed to.

40% of the time it will put a vehicle directly into long tamper mode. The worst part is it's not doing it when you try to activate the bypass. Attempting to start the car with the key after installation of the bypass goes right into long tamper mode. First bypass I have seen do this.

The other 40% of the time the bypass will start the car with the remote start, but the security light will stay on. Usually meaning the resistance is close, but a little more off than the car wants. Also this eventually puts the car into long tamper mode as well if you leave the car run long enough.

As you can tell I don't give this bypass a chance anymore and all the stock we had left is being sent back. What a waste of time..
