 I have a Crimestopper RS700 II that I have installed in a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado Pickup.  I cannot get the engine to stay running.  It attempts to start 3 times and then stops trying.  I have a PLDATA installed to bypass the Passlock 2 feature.  I have tested the tach wire to be sure it is getting a signal and have programmed the tach feature according the manual.  I was wondering what else I could be missing?  Does anyone have or can you send me a diagram that is specific to installing a RS700 II in a 2001 Silverado (wire to wire, starter to vehicle, color codes)? Thanks.

Make sure ( TEST THIS ) that your BROWN wire is getting a (-) signal from the remote starter when activated. Also, make sure that the programming pin is in the proper position for operation and programming.

Thanks for the reply Jeff.

OK.  I tested the brown wire and I get a negative pulse from it when activated.  I also put the PLDATA jumper in the operation setting after programming.   Let me ask you this.  Even with the PLDATA installed do I still need to send that (-) pulse to the factory alarm disarm wire?  Any other suggestions?  On the RS700 I have the ING 1 wire going to the pink wire from the ingition harness and the ING2 going to the white wire on the ignition harness.  The start wire is going to yellow on the ignition harness.  Is there another ingition wire I need to be energizing?

I looked up this vehicle and it lists a third ignition wire (brown)check your ignition harness for this brown wire and test it for power when the key is in the run posistion.if so you need to power this wire during remote start through a relay.

ive never done a 3rd ignition on those trucks.  so dont.  anyway, there is one accy wire (orange), and two ignition wires (pink and a small gauge white).  im not familiar with the passlok bypass you are using, but make sure that if it uses a (-) status output from the RS, that is it getting that trigger in time before the remote start sequence.  ive had a 555L not activate off the DEI relay pack.  that causes the truck to crank but it wont run because passlock trips.  id trouble shoot the bypass.  you should have grabbed the tach at the ECM under the battery (white).  if you didnt, take out the four 7mm screws holding the cluster in the dash and grab the tach wire in the harness there, its the only white wire in it.  test your brake shutdown wire and make sure you used the wire that gets 12v when the pedal is pushed, not 12v all the time.  ive had as installer do that before.  the remote start was fine but wouldnt engage because the brake was "pushed".

Yes, you still need to send a (-) signal to the OEM alarm system ( if the truck has OEM alarm ), otherwise the alarm will be set off when you try to remote start the truck. No other IGN wire , but you have the ORANGE ACC wire that controls the HVAC that needs to be hooked up. Make suer that your TACH wire ACTUALLY programmed to the unit. What wire did you use and did you get confirmation fromt he unit that it learned properly ??

I have verified the tach wire and it is programmed to the unit.  I got the tach wire off of the ECM under the battery (position 10 on the red connector, white wire).  I also verified that the tach wire is not a data wire, as the starter instructions show how to do that. 

I also now have the ACC orange wire connected as a second ING 2 via relay. 

Anyone know how long a (-) pulse needs to be sent to the PLDATA to activate it?  Right now I am using the disarm output wire on the starter, and it is sending a (-) pulse to the PLDATA about 2 seconds before the starter activates.

Could I just have a bad RS or PLDATA??  I'm starting to think that way.   I am sure it probably rare that these go bad or are defective from the factory but I suppose it could happen.

is the security light flashing when the truck is attempting to start?

OK, first thing I will explain is I have been in the electrical business for almost 25 years.  I don't know how many times I have found bad connections either causing malfunctioning equipment or disabling equipment beyond repair.  Well, it caught me.  I found my problem when I connected the data interface data wire (PLDATA II) to the trucks Passlock data wire.  I made a bad connection there and that was it. 

I did find out one thing.  There are alot of people out there willing to share their knowledge in forums like these and it sure is nice know that you can still get something for nothing.  I appreciate all the people who posted to this thread and I hope someday I can return the favor.  Thanks a lot and God Bless!!
