Car: 00 Sunfire GT with power averything.

Problem: Driver's side door lock not unlocking under power. (works with key) no ovious mechanical resistance. Trunk stoped working at the same time!

What is weird? Many 00 Sunfires and Cavaliers have this problem!

Does anyone have the wiring diagrams for the locks, keyless and trunk? Do they share a common relay?

If this help: the lock system on the FOB unlocks the driver's side first (normally) then press unlock again and does the passenger door. To lock, both are done at the same time. Trunk is independant.  How is driver unlock and trunk related?

Thanks!

Eric

what i would do is check all of the fuses. you might have one under the dash and under the hood....

does the drivers door unlock from the switch?? or just the pass. door??

if only the pass. door unlocks, then i would test the motor inside the door.

if it works off of the switch then it could be in the K/E unit itself.

if there is a relay for those features, then it will be marked in one of the boxes

the wiring is pretty simple.  5wi lock/unlock and trunk uses a positive trigger.  i agree with checking the key fob.  if everything works fine with the interor controls, id look into a new keyless entry system.  might as well get a remote starter.

The keyless FOB is locking all doors but will not unlock driver. nor open the trunk. the buttons inside the car wil lock and unlock the pass. door, but only lock the driver.

What I'm getting at, is the driver unlock and trunk release failed at the exact time. So the 2 are dependant of eachother. That makes me think " common relay"

I have read about this happening to many Cavaliers and Sunfires of the same year. But no one posted the fix or problem.

Does anyone have the diagrams to show what relays / fuses are used?

I would agree that mybe the keyless entry has failed and the dealer should check.

you can test the wire at the K/E unit in the trunk. see if the wires have power when you push the buttons on the key FOB.

crappy....could you "borrow" a bcm from a wrecker (you do have a buddy that works at a wrecker don't you??? :)  and try it really quick?  if that works, then pay for the BCM...shouldn't be that much from a scrapyard...if not, then you know you're talking about broken wires or some other anomaly...

you never did mention...do the doorlocks work consistently if you manually trigger the right doorlock wires with a r/s or alarm?  or does this condition exist no matter what you use (factory fob, factory switches, installed r/s or alarm?)

Just for sh@*t's and grins, did you try to unplug the battery for 15 mins. and see if maybe something would reset?
