Hello all. What car alarm/s would you guys recommend for my 87 Mercedes 300E? I am looking for the best that I can afford. Probably under$500 for everything necessary. Back in the day, Vipers were the Sh*t! What deters theives like the old speaking "Viper Armed", "please stand back" nowdays?I don't care about remote start. Just want something that will work great with my car.

I would get one with a paging remote control personally. There are alot available on the market but most are manufactured by a single facility in Korea or Chine and is sent over to North America for distribution for various companies. Some companies that I recommend are Compustar, Alpine, Viper, Lynx 2000

Someone recommended Commando Alarms. Is anyone using one? I am looking at the FM-870 2way model. Right now, my 300E barely leaves the garage and I don't take it anywhere that I would be parking it and going inside. I only drive it. The reason being that I haven't installed an alarm in it yet. Only the factory loud horn alarm. I have been restoring this car for the past two years so it's just now back together and ready to go for a long drive.
