Having problem with a remote start install.

I installed a commando rs-560 and everything work fine except for the remote start.

The unit will crank the engine but does not fire.

I did the tach learning and everything went fine like it is suppose to.

Questions I have is this:

1) Wiring diagram from commando has ign2nd = BLACK/ orange    Accessory=BLACK/ white

I have seen another wirirng diagram that has these 2 reversed.

2)  In the ign harness their where 3 different BLACK/ white wires (one 10 gauge BLACK/ white)(2, either dark brown or BLACK/ white 14 gauge)  I used the 10 gauge wire for acc.

which one is correct?

Or is my problem with a wrong tach wire?

I spoke to a tech. he said I might have a wrong tach wire .  (I used BLACK/ gray in the engine compartment against the firewall)

I looking to work on this next weekend and want to get my ducks in a row before then.

Thanks in advance

Make sure you have both ignition wires powered when you activate the remote start. Test both wires. Never seen acc. pose a problem with remote starting other than the a/c controls won't work. But that 2nd ign needs power in order for the vehicle to start. The tech sheet I'm looking at says the tach wire is grey..and is located in th engine compartment next to the master cylinder. Hope this helps..

ign # 1 is dark blue, ign #2 is black / orange, acc is black / white (10 gauge). If your not sure on the Tach wire use gray / blue wire at PCM passanger rear of engine on firewall.  But like the Rookie stated above test all wires at R/S and make sure all is well....

Thanks.

I did some testing last night and my BLACK/ orange wire has 12 vlts in run position and nothing in crank position. Is their any wires I shoud avoid before I start test all of them.  I would hate to mess anything up or trigger my air bags.  I am using a digital multi meter and sticking the wires with a sewing pin into the insulation to check the wires.

Any and all advise is appreciated.

Thanks

Your crank wire is yellow wire. Do you have the blue wire powered on the second ign?

I have the yellow to the starter output

Blue (10 gauge) to Ign 1

BLACK/ orange (14 gauge) to Ign 2

BLACK/ white (10 gauge) to Acc.

The remote will crank over the engine but does not start.  I lengthen the crank time but does not start. Almost like it doesn't get any fuel.

I need to double check my test on the black /orange but I am pretty sure that it did not have any juice with switch in crank position.

Dodge trucks only need blue ignition and yellow start hooked up to work. Truck will not crank if blue isn't energized during crank either, so if it's not starting there is something preventing the vehicle from getting the two things it needs to run, spark and fuel. disconnect your tach wire and see if it cranks long enough to fire. The BLACK/ orange is the only accesory wire require for remote start, it powers up the heater/ABS/Airbag circuits, the BLACK/ white powers up insignifigant circuits such as the radio.

An easy way to test and see if you've got fuel is to crack a bolt on the end of the fuel rail loose.  I had to do this once when helping my brother troubleshoot a no start condition.

The BLACK/ White wire would not prevent the truck from starting. It now sounds like a tach signal

Update:

Worked on this weekend.  And found that I had the wrong wire for the ign.  Hooked it up like it supposed to and everything works just great.  I guess that proves beer and car alarms is not a good combination.  Or maybe not enough beer.  Who knows.

Thanks for everyones input and this is a great site.
