Ok, a long time ago I put an anti-grind relay in Neon. At random times the check engine light would come on and the cruise was disabled altogether. i installed a switch on the ground wire to the RS so I could use my cruise on trips. I put up with it for a while, but then ran into a few cars that rejected anti-grind relays so i got the idea of cutting out the one in the neon. The other vehicles rejecting the anti-grins were not Dodge vehicles, but then last year I put one in a Caravan and I got a check engine light a few days later so I cut it out and that solved it. The caravan had a factory anti-grind feature so there was not a problem, but now I am in the same situation again with a 96 intrepid, and I haven't reconnected the starter wire yet and I dont want to unless I have to.

It doesnt seem like the relay should cause any problems since the relay is only energized when the key is turned to the start position which is only on rare occasions, so for the most part the wire should be connected in the relay.

Any ideas? or anyone ever run into this same problem?

you may want to diode isolate those wire i had that problem on a 03 Town and country but i dioded them and bingo it was fine and has not been back since

Some cars send data on the start wire when the car is running.

Most start kills are activated during RS. ( if you are using Igniton and Starter kill/ or Ground Out as the triggers for the relay)

Try using the start wire ( with diode) instead of the Ign. wire as the + trigger.... ?

This way the SK is activated only when the Start wire is energized.

Yeah I tried to describe that the relay is only energized by the starter being engaged.   I used three wire prewired relays wih a diode on the Caravan and Neon, but the intrepid has an internal relay so I will check if it opens the circuit the entire time the RS is on or if it just opens when the key attempts to engage the starter.

bmf1000d, what was the problem with the T&C and how did you resolve it with diodes? Thanks
