I recently installed an alarm with remote start in a 1998 prelude. got everything working except the remote start because his car came with the passkey lock. So if you dont have the key in it wont let you start the car. Does anyone know how to bypass this so the car can be remote started? Any help would be greatly apreciated. thanks.

you need to get a dei 555u and install it to get the remote start to work

Try designtech-intl.com/. When you get to this site go to document # 144. It has a bypass diagram for your car... Craig...

just buy the friggin 555h its like 30 on ebay....that way you dont have something ghetto rigged, making your car easier to steal.... plus with that method (which is basically a home made 555u) you have to give up a 20+ dollar key.... dont be cheap....

ok i got the DEI 555U and attempted to install but the immobilizer system would not recognize the key. I am not sure but i prob did one of the steps wrong. Could anyone who has installed one before please give me the basic to-do list for the install?

the 555u is the most simplest bypass, ya need to reread the instruction again. its straight forward install

actually...you could use a 555d....that way you use no key...it was speciifcally desinged for the prelude?...take back your 555u and track down a 555d

i read the instructions several times and installed it the standard way and then the optional way using the factory antenna loop. neither way would work. The immobilizer would not recognize the keys signal. If anyone has installed one on a prelude with the immobilizer key please give me a short description of how you did it. thanks..

The position of the key inside the module is crucial for the Immobilizer system to be able to read the code on the key. What you might have to do is move the key around in different spots on the module before it will work in the sweet spot.

ok is there anything special i need to do with the antenna loop? like any prime place to mount it? or is it better to use the stock one? thanks for the info...

Just make sure that the antenna loop is wrapped around the cylinder about 3-4 times and TIGHT too. The looser the wraps, the more chances of a poor signal transfer from the module to the Immobilizer ring.
