Subject: Unlock Wire (99 Grand Am)

I recently installed a Prestige APS-25CH in a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am.  I have located the single (white) power lock and unlock wire and installed a 1.5 K ohm resistor on the unlock wire as required.  I am still having problems with the unlock function of the alarm.

Does the unlock wire need a double ground pulse?  Any suggestions

In addition, any information on the door triggers would be helpful also. (i.e. wire color, location, and installation specs.)

Here's the resistor color (4 band) code that I was using from right to left.

Brown, Green, Red, Gold = 1.5K

did you use relays??? If not use them this sytem cannot be hooked up directly withouit relays tehy are negative but need a high current ground to work!!! the unlock requires a 1.5k ohm resistor !

you have to use relays.  its a one wire door lock system.

I have the lock wire hooked up directly, and it works fine.  Will only the unlock wire require the relay? and if so is there a particular wire spec. I should follow or should the traditional "actuator" specs with the resistor added work just fine?

wire your relays as follows take the negative output from the alarm for lock put that on pin 85, take 12 volts positive (depending on alarm the unit may have this in the door lock harness)and put on in 86.

Pin 87 will get ground, pin 30 will go to the white wire in the car.

You do the same thing for unlock but this time place the resistor on the wire at pin 30!!!
