I have connected up, what I beleive to be 3 ignition wires on separate contacts. An additional wire to defeat Passlock security. My key does not have a chip but it has a security feature called Passlock. When remote starting, it starts for two seconds and dies like the fuel is cut off. Security disable wire is light green down the steering column. It is hot until I insert the key. Manual says it is on drivers kick panel but this wire on column responds as it should. (Hot until key is removed) If I start the engine with the key, then hit the remote start button, I can turn off key and remove it. Engine continues to run until I hit the remote stop. Yet without the key it runs for two seconds and dies. Any thought. Thank you in advance. ------------- Mike A

There should only be 2 ignition wires. The green wire on the column is the keysense wire which doesn't have anything to do with security on your truck; the factory security disarm wire goes to ground with the key turned in the door lock cylinder, not in the ignition switch.
Your truck does have the Passlock immobilizer system which is causing it to die after 2 seconds. In order to bypass that you will need a Passlock bypass module (available generally from whoever made the remote start). The takeover works fine because Passlock only needs to send the correct signal during startup. I would suggest a learning bypass module like DEI's part no. 555L as opposed to one that actually requires you to measure resistance value.

Information from this site shows ingnition 1 Pink, Ign 2 white and Ign 3 brown. My keys do not have a chip, does that mean I still need the DEI 555L module you are talking about? Also, my alarm has a "Factory security disarm signal output". It sends a 1 second negative pulse upon a remote start. Will this work in place of the DEI module if attached to the "Factory disarm" green wire in the door?? Thanks Mike A ------------- Mike A

No need to power up the BROWN wire on this vehicle as it only poweres up the wiper's and turn signals, etc. THe Truck does have Passlock II system on it that does require a bypass module. Use your GROUND OUT WHEN RUNNNING wire to engage the module for remote start applications. If the truck doesn't have a factory alarm system on it, then you do not need to hook up the factory security disarm signal output wire to the truck.

Perhaps it would help a bit to clarify that Passlock theft deterrent system and a factory alarm system are two different things...Passlock has a resistor chip, but it's built into the lock cylinder, not the key like Passkey; and it has to send the resistance value to the BCM at a specific time; if the vehicle has a factory alarm, the disarm wire would need hooked up separately from the Passlock bypass module.

I too have purchased a remote Start. I bought a DEI 369D Hornet. I have had a remote start in the past on another vehicle. I put it on my blazer with a 555L bypass. It to will crank but never really start up. It seems as if it is not getting any fuel. I have tried to leave the key in the RUN position and activate the remote start but it still will not crank. I have even programmed it for a longer crank time. Still no effect. anyone with suggestions.

cpkusznizj you probably hooked up the 555l wrong. Start by testing the starter wire when you remote start with a dmm to see if the r/s is out putting power to crank. With a lot of newer gm's with passlock 2 will not crank if the yellow resistance wire is cut, unlike the older ones that cut off the fuel. Make sure that you cut the yellow wire putting the yellow from the 555l to the key side and the black with yellow to the car side of that wire. Also make sure you ground the black wire off the 555l to the orange with black that is next to the yellow wire. Most commonly if the yellow and the black with yellow wires off the 555l are bacwards then you would have that kind of problem.
