I want to pick your brains on this problem that I am having with my OEM alarm system.  I am looking for a common problem that results in the alarm going off for no reason.  I have installed plenty of aftermarket alarms, and would try troubleshooting it myself if it weren't a factory alarm, but I know from replacing the audio system that this is not something I want to troubleshoot.

I do not have a problem if I am running into a store or something and activating the alarm, but when I have it activated for extended periods of time (greater than two hours), it starts making noise.  It would be really nice to fix this so I can use my remote door locks.

Just to elaborate:

I have researched this issue on a couple of the Bimmer boards, and they suggest a leve/anti-tow sensor that acts up, located above the headliner near the sunroof controller.  The only problem is they don't have a solution for the problem or a method of disabling this feature posted anywhere.

I am not interested in having an alarm to deter theft of the car, that's not a problem where I live, but I would like to protect the awesome audio system that I have installed.
