When i goto install my viper 550esp in my other car i wanna try to hook up the rear defogger. Anyone know how this can be done? I figured i'll hook it up to maybe the trunk release button. Anyways is that possible? I kinda figured i'm going to need a relay. Also does anyone happen to know the best place to access that wire? I don't really wanna tear apart the upper part of the dash for just one wire.

Yes, find the signal wire behind defroster switch and test it than hook up relay like this, 85 to negative 3rd ignition output from remote start, 87 to eighther neg or positive fused 10 amp depending on defroster signal, 86 to 10 amp fused 12 v and 30 to defroster signal wire. That way when you RS then it will kick on with the heater and you wont have to use and Aux channel.

Some rear defroster triggers need a pulsed input, some need a constant input. You need to figure out what kind your car has before you wire it up. Otherwise you can burn it up.

JWorm is right, plus keep in mind if you wire it up to come on automatically, then when you want to cool the car off in the summer you're turning it on as well.... some of the new DEI units out now have a dedicated defroster output that is programmable from pulsed to latched... but the 550 wont i'm sure
