I have a '90 t-bird with a galaxy alarm and from time to time the alarm goes off in the middle of the night 3 times in a row, with a 3min gap between each trip. I have seen the alarm go off and nobody is near the car to trip it. Can anyone advice me as to what the problem could be? Thanks

Thse sporatic problems are hard to trouble shoot . What you will need to do is to go into the wiring harness and unplug all the trigger wires that would make the system go off. One by one re-attach the wires until it sets of the alarm. When you find the wire that sets the alarm off, then you have to trouble shoot it after the fact.

what kind of car is it, usually some cars send door triggers when their system goes to sleep.

oops sorry did not read that, try disconnecing the door trigger wire and see if it still does what it is doing. If it stops doing that, you may need to find a different door trigger wire. this is just a guess as said by Velocity Motors, disconnect each trigger wire one by one and see which one gives you the problem.

If your alarm has a triggered zone alert see what zone is causing the alarm to activate. Some alarms will flash the LED a certain amount of times to indicate the triggered zone. Check your owner's manual for details. Most false alarms are caused by a shock sensor that is too sensitive.

How long has the alarm been installed on there? Has it just start doing it? I've had some customers come to me with the same problems and I ask them if there was anyone around the car or did someone come through with loud music...and it turned out to be a cat jumping on the car at night. Had cat prints on the top of it. So check on what the previous people have told you to check, and post back on here.

Thank you all for you info. I will check that out as soon as the rain stops here in cali. The car alarm has been installed for about 5 months.

I had an alarm do that because the stock trunk pin had a bad connection. After the 3 times, its probably shunting the zone. Check the zone when the alarm notifies you of the alert in the morning, then (assuming it's a door, hood or trunk pin) inspect them, to make sure they aren't grounding out unneccesarily.
