Does anyone know where I can get just the bitwriter cable for programming my 791 xv alarm? I want to put the alarm in a place that would be very difficult to get at to program and I wanted to put the cable in and leave it so it could be programmed without a bunch of crap.

yes DEI has a special cable thats made specifically for leaving in the vehicle and allowing for easy hook up to a bitwriter... it's in their catalogue, any DEI dealer can order one for you....

I ahve called 4 different dealers in my area and they all say that the only thing they have is the one they use with the bitwriter. 1 said that he could order it but it would be 35.00. That is a litlle steep when they want 40 to program it and I can buy the whole bitwriter for 75.00.

the part # of the cable is 8998 and the part # of the ESP programming port extension is 8999. The ESP port is nice cause you mount it under dash and it gives you an accessable port to the main brain.  I dont know what the  8999 is worth but it cant be that much. check on DEI's site

Usually we put the cable on all the systems we install to be easyer for us when the customer comes back to have the anual check on the system.

Would those parts come with a new bitwriter if I bought it?

Can't you just modify 2 451M cables to do this? Basically just cut the three pin microharness and join them together. They look similar but I have never tried it.

yes you can i've done it.  you can also use two lock trigger harnesses and just add another wire inbetween the blue and green wires.  any three pin plug that fits will work.
