I am trying to add 2 small strobe lights in my headlamps that will turn on when my alarm is armed. I cannot find a 12v wire on my alarm other than a constant, and I need one that only lights 12 volts when the alarm is armed. Can anyone help?

for the 12v positive, you can connect it to any 12v positive. for the negative 12v, connect it to the orange wire (ground when arm).

I am going to go try it right now, you going to be here for a few minutes?

I tried it and the only thing it does is make the strobes blink less when disarmed?

Hey you need a 12v signal when disarmed correct? You could use a relay and reverse polarity from the (-) output when armed from your alarm. Your ground out when armed probably doesn't supply enough power for your led's...someone correct me if i am wrong. Here is an image on how i would do it.posted_image (thanks to 12volt for pic)

This should do the trick for ya...Good luck

what i did for mine was up the negative output on the lock and unlock wires to turn the strobes on for 3.5 sec when armed and disarmed.  of course you would need to change the lock/unlock time to 3.5 sec.  you can do this with 2 diodes and one relay.

wblakes was right, and wrong at the same time. You could take the 12v positive side to constant and then just have the alarm switch the negative side but the output for most alarm systems is around 500mA which is only meant to trigger a relay or extremely low current accessory. you could do it one of two ways,

1: use a relay to "strengthen" the ground signal by taking the ground when armed wire to one side of the coil and 12v (positive) constant to the other which are termanal numbers 85 and 86, then take an accual ground wire from the chassis to 87 and then 30 would go the the 12v negative input on your lighting system.       or you can

2: use relay to switch the 12v positive side of the lighting system by taking the ground when armed wire to one side of the relays coil and 12v constant to the other and to terminal number 87, 30 is your output to your lighting systems positive side.

Anyone have the wiring diagrams for this model alarm? (what wire does what?)   And it would be greatly appreciated if I could get the programming proceedures for it?

in all this is easy you need a relay and a diode.

take the orange wire and cut it in half. twist a new wire to the side of the wire that goes to the alarm brain. and take a but connector and connect it to the two twisted wire adn to the striped side of a diode.

the other side of the diode connect back to the remaining cut orange wire going to starter kill. use a butt conenctor cut didode on both sides going in to butts to prevent the leads from braking off diode and having to do it all over.

this stops any feedback caused by the starter kill.

now for the relay take the strobe lights and ground them to chassis as close to strobes as possible,.

take relay and wire it up like this the wire comming from the orange wire you just applied the diode to and connect it to pin 85 of relay.
connect constant to both 86 anf 87 fuse it with 10 amp fuse.
than take pin 30 and run it to each of the two strobe lights positive wire.

so when you are the car it turns on the strobe lights and when you disarm it and turn on ignition it shuts them off.

if this is what your want.

hint: add a little toggle switch on the wire comming from the starter kill its negative. this is because the lights flashing all the time will cause a drain on the battery. over night your'll be fine but for long periods of time i suggest turning them off because when you go back to the car the battery will be dead. so add the switch so you can control the light also if they got speed control turn them half way or lower. also preventing increased battery drain.

Thank You for the info.  Actually helped me out quite a bit.  However I do have another question... for whoever can answer it.  I have a Matrix rs2.5x Professionally installed Car Alarm.  However I bought a Rattler 369D Remote Starter and decided to install that myself (backwards, I know...) Is there a way for me to wire up the remote starter to work with my car alarm, I'm getting sick and tired of using two different controllers every time I wanna start my car (Disarm Alarm, Start Car, Arm Car With Bypass Of Ignition)  Any Info I would appreciate it beyond belief...  Thanx
