2004 Ford F-250 Superduty Install ?

First time poster here...

I have a 2004 Ford F-250 Superduty, and I recently had a local shop install a JT Plus security system.  It is an add-on to the factory keyless entry system, and uses my factory keyless entry remotes.  I have been back to this shop several times because the alarm is being triggered at least once a day, and I am at wit's end. 

According to the LED flashes when I disarm it, the alarm is activating because of the current-sensing function.  the strange thing is that the DIP switch for current-sensing is turned off.  They switched out the alarm "brain" yesterday, thinking it was the culprit,  and the alarm activated again a few hours later.  This is causing me to leave the alarm in valet so that I do not aggravate the neighbors, which is totally defeating the purpose of the alarm.

I would appreciate it if anyone here has any tips about this vehicle.  I don't know why the alarm is going off for current-sensing when it is off.  The LED flashes once then pauses once disarmed, showing the current-sensing.  FYI, this vehicle also has the keypad on the driver's door for keyless entry.

I had the same problem with my 1999 Superduty Powerstroke.  After about 20 minutes, the alarm would trigger for no apparent reason.  I installed the Valet 554R (awesome. . .).  I have access to the factory service CDs, and found my answer:

I wired both door sensors together and tied them to the door trigger input (-) for the CPU.  I placed a diode on each lead going to the sensors, so they stay independent of each other.  What I did not do was place a diode in the line from the sensor to the GEM.  What happens is the GEM "goes to sleep" to conserve power, and when it does the sensor wires "float", and the CPU interprets that as a trigger to set off the alarm.

The solution is to wire in a diode in line with each sensor wire, with the stripe pointing to the door.  Then, do the same thing on the leads going to the CPU.  This will isolate both sensors from each other, and isolate the GEM from the CPU.

I don't have the time right now to sketch out a diagam, but I will when I get home from work and post it in here.  BTW, I had the same situation on a '04 Ranger, with the same solution.  Sorry if the description is hard to understand, but it will be simple once you see it in a diagram.

Please forgive my ignorance on the subject, but what is the "GEM"?  And, why is the alarm showing one flash on the LED when disarmed which means a current-sensing alarm activation?  Remember, the #5 DIP switch is turned off which should be disabling the current-sensing.  Again, this is a JT Plus system if that helps at all. 

Maybe if any of you could cite the exact wires in the vehicle that need to be accessed it would be helpful.  From what you all are telling me, it sounds like maybe the install shop used the wrong door wires in the truck.  Everything else works fine- the locks work properly and still self-lock when driving off as when factory, my keypad on the driver's door works properly, etc.

Any drawback to disabling the "sleep mode"?  And cfurtick, is that the unlock and lock buttons on the remote or the switch in the vehicle?

the GEM disarms works perfect no drawbacks. we've been doing that at my shop for a while and had no issues. Just a heads up you have to have the doors close when doing this.

So, do I use the lock and unlock buttons on the remote or the main switch in the vehicle?

UPDATE:  On Sunday, I unplugged the alarm "brain" and plugged it back in.  I also turned the #5 DIP for current-sensing 'on' and 'off' once.  I did this out of sheer desperation, and have been checking the vehicle.  The alarm has not been triggered for current sensing yet.  I'll check it again tonight when I get home and see if it is still untriggered.

How long does it take for this GEM issue to cause a false trigger?  In other words, if my problem is the GEM would it take two days to cause the alarm to go off or would it already have done it since Sunday when I unplugged and reconnected the "brain"?  Just trying to troubleshoot this down as far as possible.  I would LOVE to not have to drop the truck off at the shop again this Saturday.

Yes, I do need an alarm.  Actually, I needed it more on Christmas Eve when it was stolen!  So, this alarm is a reaction to a theft.
