I have a 2003 F-150 with a factory keypad on the door. I want to install an alarm and still retain the use of the keypad without setting off the alarm. Would I be able to use an extra keyfob and hardwire it to the electrical system to arm/disarm the alarm with the keypad?

Hi DaveK,

Not quite . . .

The keypad is hardwired to the antitheft module inside truck which disarms/unlocks the truck.

I suggest you get a DEI 700T or 727T keyless security which taps onto the doorlock actuator wires for arming and disarming. Comes with impact detector, LED and starter kill.

This way you can arm/disarm using the keypad. posted_image

Thanks for the info. I was thinking about a remote starter as well. Something along the lines of a Viper 791XV or a Python 881XP or similar. Any suggestions?

davek,

i have read your question and have though about it for little while and if you want to add a remote start system to your vehicle, your keyless entry on your door would cause the alarm to trigger due to the illuminated entry turning on, causing the remote start system to trigger an intrusion .

the only thing the keyless entry would be good for is if you locked your keys in you truck by accident.
