Wondering how you would energize a door lock actuator with only one input, like the trunk release.  I am using the trunk release from my alarm to unlock an actuator that goes to my amp rack.  I only need it to unlock, not lock.  Would I ground the lock wire from the actuator and use a relay from the trunk release (-) to unlock the actuator.

yes, that would work as long as you plan on manually locking it each time 

87-12v

86-12v

85-trunk release wire

30-blue wire on actuator

and as you said ground the green wire on the actuator

Thanks man, that's what I thought.  I had that apifinie about using a actuator to open my amp rack so it turns around, but I am at work and couldn't get an actuator and test it.

you would have to "reset" the actuator each time you opened the amp compartment.

if your output is a neg one, you will need to use a relay to reverse it. you can get the diagram off of this site.

i would also make up some kind of override just in case the motor went bad. that way you can still get into the compartment.
