Hello, Has anyone installed a remote starter in a 2004 Subaru Forester? Im about to do one and have never messed with a subaru before. Am I in for a big surprise on the installation process or keyless system. How about Anti-thefts system, I dont think it has one but wouldnt want to have to mess with it. I would appreciate all of your help on this mission of mine. Thanks a lot!

Subaru's are really easy. This is from an 2003, but its pretty much the same.
SUBARU / FORESTER / 2003 / Remote Start

12volts white + ignition harness
Starter WHITE/ blue + ignition harness
Ignition green + ignition harness
Accessory yellow + ignition harness
Power Lock RED / white - gray plug at integrated mod
Notes: The integrated module is to the left of the steering column.
Power Unlock yellow/red - gray plug at integrated mod
Parking Lights+ BLACK/ red or orange + parking switch
Parking Lights- BLACK/ pink - lighting switch
Notes: The negative parking lights wire only works with the ignition on.
Door Trigger yellow - gray plug at integrated mod
Notes: The integrated module is to the left of the steering column.
Dome Supervision use door trigger wire
Trunk/Hatch Pin common with door trigger
Tachometer green ac pin 10, 35 pin plug at ECM
Notes: The ECM (Engine Control Module) is below the glove box. The tach wire is also found behind the instrument cluster in the middle plug.
If you have the factory alarm, they you'll have problems. The only way to disarm it is by remote. No immobilizer on any Subaru's yet.

Hi! it did came with a remote for the keyless and I belived its an alarm, any ideas on how to disarm it or if I can just install the remote start on the side without messing with the alarm and use 2 separate controllers? but I dont know if the alram will go off or damage something else when attempted to start so it might be a problem..... any toughts........help! They all come with keyless. The optional alarm is an add-on unit to the factory keyless. Not all of them come with it, and the customer pays extra for it.
There is no easy way to bypass it. It does not have an arm or disarm wire. It has a starter kill, so you would have to wire after it. It also has a built in shock sensor. I think there are also multiple ignition inputs at the factory brain (not sure where its located) that need to be interrupted. I haven't attempted to interrupt a Subaru alarm in a while, but they are not fun. If you want an alarm, stop using the factory one and put in an aftermarket alarm/remote start.

I didnt paid extra for any alarm system but I know that when I hit the lock/ unlock button on the remote it flashes the parking lights and it also makes a beeping sound. Im hoping is not the one you are talking about..... how about the keyless part of it, do I need any relays or special resistors for it? Thanks!

No relays/resistors needed. Do you understand the tech sheet, or have you just started doing remote starts? Simple car.

About the possible factory alarm. Roll down window....hit lock on remote....wait 2 minutes....reach in window and open door.
What happens?

Don't worry it's a easy Car to do.If you are adding new remotes on it and you have the power lock and power unlock wires.Once you have these wires the power unlock will disarm this and when you remote start car the factory alarm won't turn on.
