Hi,

I have Viper Alarm 350HV installed on my car at a out of state shop.

I'm wondering what kind of activities will set off the alarm. The manual says it has dual state sensor (warn away : soft impact or if someone/something approaches too close will trigger some soft chirp, and the other is the alarm itself). But, one day I found some footsteps and a long deep scratch on the hood of my car without any notice from the alarm (manual says that it has a memory that will warn anytime something/someone  did something that triggered the alarm, such as additional chirp when someone disarm the alarm normally). I park my car far enough from my house so even I hear alarm wailing, I won't go outside just to check whether it's from my car.

Briefly, I need to adjust the sensitivity of the alarm (so both the "warn away" feature and the alarm itself work properly). Can I do it myself ?

And what area will be covered by this model of alarm (only 4 doors not includes the trunk; glass : windshield, driver's side/ passenger's side; rear window; hood) ?

I tried to unlock the car door using its key, it didn't trigger the alarm, not until I really opened the door. Is it normal ?

Any helps would be appreciated. Thank you.

The dual stage shock sensor refers to obviously the shock sensor.  if there is a light vibration (vibration, not motion big difference) the car will chirp about five times and if it continues or if the vibration increases the alarm will go into full alarm mode.  the door prolly detect tamper through you dome light.  i'm taking a guess because i don't know what kind of car its installed on.  so yes the alarm should only go off if your door is open, not if you just unlock it. as far as adjusting the sensitivity.  what you can do is look under your dash and if you see a clear box about 1.5 inch by 1.5 or so then that is prolly the shock sensor. the shock sensor will also have a red and green led.  they flash when the shock sensor is vibrated.  a clockwise turn on the small adjustment screw will increase vibration sensitivity.  if you don't see the shock sensor just let it go and go to a alarm shop. they should charge to much.

find the brain under the dash and udjust it, the shock is built into the brain.
