I have installed a Prestige Platinum APS 996 on a 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis.  The installation is complete, but my customer is interested in a tilt switch to protect his rims from being stolen.

I have never installed the tilt switch (DEI 500T) and just wanted to know if anyone had any pros or cons regarding this particular security accessory.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

The 500T is not very good IMO. No matter how it's set, never seems to pick up tilt until it's well beyond... The 507T digital tilt/motion would be a better choice for its sensitivity, but it also has a reputation for falsing. I personally haven't had much trouble with it when used in tilt ONLY. You could also go another route with the 508D using dual-zone radar. I personally use it on my truck, in a silent fashion (warn-away only wired), to let me know when someone is too close and to roll the windows if vented.

or you could just pick up an inexpensive mecury switch from radioshack (thats all a 500t is)

Thanks for the feedback.  I think that I'm going to recommend the DEI 508D and air horns.  This should provide the additional theft prevention that my customer is looking for.
