how to put in LED’s on Viper Alarm

What wires do you have?
Is this a three wire LED module that flashes patterns?
What make is the LED module?

Someone else here was just having some trouble hooking up a three wire module. There is a power (usually red), ground (usually black) and trigger wire (could be any color). The power goes to +12V constant, the ground to ground, and the trigger to a negative-when-armed output on the alarm.

Need to know what model of Viper you have.

If you have a 791VX for example, you want to hook the orange wire (H1/1) to the black wire on the LED module.

Orange is a popular color for "ground when armed" outputs across many brands. If you have an external starter kill relay you will find that it is also connected to this wire.

The LED has constant power on the red wire, but only gets ground on the black when the alarm is armed.

I have the 790vx  i tried the orange it just make the led's come on constantly, but i think there are 2 oranges though but im not sure

The correct wire for that model is orange H1/1 - first wire on harness 1.

The 790vx install manual says that the output is prewired for the starter kill module, and that if you want to hook it up to another accessory, you need to diode-isolate it.

Have you hooked it up as per the diagram on page 8 of the install manual?

Also, use a meter to check for ground continuity on the orange wire when the alarm is disarmed. It should not present a ground.

i dont mean to sound like an idiot, but i dont have any idea about security systems, I had the people who i bought the alarm from install it,  i know about the orange h1/1 (atleast i think) but i dont know what diode-isolate is.  I need alot of help on this one, lol, all i know is that i hooked the leds like the diagram on the thing they came in said to. i need a more discription im confused lol 

You should ask the shop that installed your alarm what they want to hookup the LED scanner...

I had the same problem.. This is what I did. I found the alarm brain (I had to take apart the lower section under the dash to find it). The orange wire is very important here. I connected the power wire (red) from the scanner (LED strip) to a 12v source (also red).. Then I took the alarm trigger wire (blue) from the scanner (which is also a ground) and tapped that into the orange wire from the alarm brain. I didn't even use the black ground wire from the scanner because it was pretty much useless in my situation. The two wires should be the only two needed. That should work fine (thanks to my help from Toru)

Of course, I then put my panels all back together.

What I did was, I actually ran the wires up to the roof of the car and over to the back of my rear-view mirror.. so now whenever I turn my alarm on, there are blue chaser lights in the top middle of my windshield. I think it is awesome.. and I haven't seen anyone else do it either. This just goes back to the days when I watched Knight Rider all the time, lol.

Yeah, the problem with labor costs is that they are not related to the cost of the item. Time and effort is simply time and effort.

If you are comfortable finding the brain and tapping into the wires, then the hookup itself should be as straightforward as Xerxes'.

Are you trying to add additional leds?
