Have a jeep in my drivaway that I'm doing an install on. after starting with remote starter, run time varries between one second and 5 seconds. I DO have a transponder bypass kit with programed key installed. The transponder kit is recieving power during start. I'm afraid somthing is going on with the transponder. Here is a trouble shooting test I preformed. I inserted a factory key into ignition, did not turn it. Then remote started...same thing, shut down. IF it were transponder releated wouldn't it have started since I had a factory key inserted? any help please? I've done several installs but this one has me stumped and the customer was to have thier vehicle back yesterday.

ahh but is the bypass still installed when trying to use the factory key? if the car see's two key's it will not start.
remove transponder bypass and test remote start again. be sure that either the vehicle is shutting down or the starter is shutting down.
then post up again.

The vehilce starts and runs the same ammount of time weather the bypass is activated or not. When i inserted the factory key into the ignition, i removed the key and disconnected the bypass...attempted remote start....same thing. Weather the starter is shutting down before the car is or not...unsure. I will check but why would the starter shut down once the engin is running? The starter does try and restart 3 times.

What remote start unit are you putting in? I know design techs have a feature called the "in-gear" switch which won't allow the car to run if it thinks it's in gear.. Always needs to be turned off on chryslers.. Most remote starts do not have this option though so unless it's a design tech this isn't your problem..
Another simple one, when you remote start it, is the dash icon for the key coming on solid or blinking? If it blinks obviously its a bypass problem. And yes the car should remote start with a key in the hole assuming you have fully disconnected the bypass.
Just a couple things to check..Good luck,
Mike

if your're sure it 's not the transponder, check the tach next...

I agree with derek. it sounds like the alarm box is thinking that starting of the car failed and tries again. That's why it does 3 times.

it was the current sensing feature on the RS-131. I had to locate a tach sense wire and go that direction. No I have to find another transponder bypass modual as I'm torn up the one I had thinking it was broken... Thanks folks.
