How would I go about modifying the wires on my alarm? Where do people usually even mount them in a car, because I don't even know where it is. I need to make the trigger wire have a constant ground when it is on..

Thank you!

If you mean modifying what the wires do inside the alarm unit - you don't.

The brain module is usually located high under the dash, often driver's side, sometimes the middle or passenger. If your installer was a real pro, you will have a hell of a time finding it. posted_image

is there by chance a constant ground coming out of the brain that is only grounded when the alarm is active?

Yes, there is a very good chance. Most manufacturers make this wire orange.

Toru.. you are awesome! I tore apart the section under the dash and found the alarm brain... yeah, it was just kinda sitting on a bunch of wires. The guy who installed it must not have been that great. Whoever had my last car must not have liked it very much. Anyway, I tapped into the orange wire. I still used the red wire that was on the original LED, but I hooked the trigger (blue wire) to the orange and it worked like a charm! Thanks so much!

In my recent quest to find a shop to install an alarm in my car (#2 on most stolen list), I asked them all where they typically install the brain.  Without fail, they all said 'under the dash, next to the steering collumn on the drivers side'.  Now, if I was the thief trying to break into a car, wouldn't that be the first place I would look if I wanted to disable the alarm by simply unplugging it or clipping the wires?

I made the decision to go solo and I bought my alarm without installation...  I realize I am giving up the warrenty and such, but I'd rather fight my criminal while he's trying to steal my car instead of fighting the insurance company and alarm company to get them to pay my deductable...
