I want to connect triggers from all 5 doors to my alarm's door sensor. I know that diode-isolation is safe and also isolates the singal from each door interferering with other doors. Can I put 2 diodes in series in order to be safe? That way, if a diode shorts due to its life being over or whatever internal malfunction, it can only be cut but never short.

Do i need a 6amp diode on a highlander 03 door too? Or will a 1 or 2 amp diode do?

6 amp diodes? You're crazy. 1 amp is fine. No way the alarm's door trigger input is going to draw more than 1 amp. Its the alarm that determines the curremt draw, not the car.

well... no im not crazy, there are some installs that require them. so try and be respectful. putting diodes in series is crazy to me but i didnt lay it out like that. https://www.directechs.com/techtips/pdfs/resources/security/directed_techtips/1075.pdf ------------- MECP certified installer

sroth140, it looks like in your case/diagram, you do not need the 6am diodes except for the rear-doors only and that is because they are being used to draw current for the convenience system. If you look at the front door pin switches, they are not 6amp diodes. So you really need low amperage unless some device needs high amps (like the convenience center in this particular car model)
