Couple of questions...
On new gm trucks for example, where do you tap the tach wire-engine compartment or is there somewhere inside the truck.
Do most of you use the bypass for passlock that automatically reads the resistance or do any of you use the manual ones yet?
What is the best way to mount the pin switch for hood?
Do you do a lot of add on starts that use the factory keyfob?
How is AEW brand remote start units as far as quality?

use the tach wire at the cluster, use an auto-learning passlock module like the 555L, we quit using the manual ones years ago.... use a pin switch bracket if needed or just drill a hole...the key is in sizing up the location... why would you want to add a remote start to factory keyless and get only 50 feet range when you can put in a dedicated one and get 1500 feet of range??? Never even HEARD of AEW as far as starters go.......

I like astro start a little better than directed but that's personal preference... any decent company will have all the range and install accessories you need to make that truck cake...I use the white wire at pin 10 inside connector at the ECM under the hood for the tach.
The hood pin I use the bracket at the drivers rear engine compartment. I use an adjustable pass lock module from astro start or crimestopper. I also have never heard of AEW starters and agree with the others on the range aspect.
I dont know anything about how DEI numbers their bypass modules so if the ones mentioned above handle the doorlocks and factory alarm diarming, then I apologize for the repetition. On new GM trucks you need to get a databus interface module to control the locking, unlock ing, arming and disarming of the factory security. If you dont get a module then you need to go into each door and install 2 relays for a reverse polarity setup. You also wont be able to rearm the factory security system without a module if you have one.

jrilla, that would be the 456G you are referring to for the locks. Only needed on 03 or newer GM trucks.
Factory remotes for remote starters suck.
I always got tach at the ECM below the battery. Wire reads about 6v AC when the truck is on. Recently I've beeen getting it at the cluster a lot.
I've also never seen an AEW remote starter.
I don't do hood pins.
