I'm definitely a newbie at this so I would be extremely appreciative for a lot feedback and suggestions.  I'm installing a Prestige APS-875C alarm with remote start on an 02 trailblazer. I've ordered the PLDATA and the GMDL1.  I would like to get any specific tips, tricks, or suggestions to make this go as smoothly as possible such as reccomended mounting locations for the shock sensors and control module and specific locations of everything that I will need to be wiring into.  I've already gotten the wiring diagrams off of other postings in this site (Thank YOU!).  This will be both my first solo alarm and remote start install.  I've got all the time and patience in the world so now I just need some tips. Once again all the help anyone who's already done an alarm install on a trailblazer (or anything) will be greatly appreciated.

  • Mount the CPU of the system high on the driver's side towards the center of the dash or to the driver's side of the dash.
  • Solder all connections and sue electrical tape to wrap connections
  • mount shock sensor to a flat plastic surface where it wi attached to the vehicles frame. You can mount to a metal surface, but just watch that it doesn't interfere with the function of the sensor as some sensors are sensitive to this
  • ALWAYS use a DM to confirm wire colors and locations. DO NOT always believe what you see or get from wiring diagrams because they are not always right. The Trailblazer is a prime example of this. In all diagram it says to grab the dome light at the under dash light, but in all the Trailblazer's I've worked on in Canada, there is no under dash light. You have to grab it at the harness going to the back of the truck towards to B pillar

Thanks for the tips, actually on this trailblazer there is an under dash light on the driver's side.  I was talking to a friend and he said that for the 2002 model year there were many differences from those made before October and those made afterwards, I guess this may be one. Thanks again.

Another question, the pldata came in but has no instructions on how to wire it.  If anyone could help clear this up.  How do I wire the pldata into the 02 trailblazer?  Someone told me I only need to use 4 wires the data line out, batt+, ground-, and GWR IN.  If this is so is it a constant 12V and what does the GWR IN come from?  Thanks in advance.

Hi, you'll need the PL-DATA's orange (+12 volts), black (ground), violet (data wire), and brown (- ignition input). You'll need to connect the brown to a negative ignition output from your car starter. Make sure that it stays on during crank. After installing it, make sure the jumper is on the 2 pins closest to the main connector, start the car with the key. The LED on the unit should flash a few times indicating it is programmed. Then move the jumper to the 2 bottom pins (farthest from the label) for operating position. Hope this helps.

I just came across a DEI 555L and was wondering if that would work on the trailblazer.  If so I get to return the PLDATA and save the ever precious $$$$, but how do  I wire it into the trailblazer.  Does it basically use the same 4 wires as in the PLDATA (btw thanks Mike)? Once again thanks for all your help in advance, this is a great site!
