I am installing a rs in both a 03 trail blazer and 03 silverado. The unit im using is a start only add-on. Is used 2 neg pulses from the door locks to activate the start sequesce. My question is this, Do I need to also install any other mods execpt the PLDATA in each? I heard somthing about a door lock/ alarm  interface..is the necessory

If this is needed the R/S unit is a 20022 from design tech (www.autocommand.com)

so thats gonna give the customer what... about 50 to 75 feet of range??   wow

to answer your question, yes you will need a data module as well as a passlock bypass module...

I know the range is very low, but that what the customer wants. To better understand you r answer, I need a PLDATA for passlock by pass, and a GMDL1  for EACH truck.  right?

You should only need a bypass for the Passlock 2 system (PLDATA or something similar). For the lock pulses just hit the motor wire.. You may be able to find them to the left side of the dash (behind the fusebox cover)there is a harness with a bunch of gray and tans on the silverado at least. Don't quote me on that though double check your info haven't done one in a while. Good luck,

Mike

you will probably trigger the factory alarm i believe there is an interface that covers both passlock and doorlocks and alarm    bypasskit.com

let me clearify my question...i think we bothare a little confused.   I know I need a passlock by pass unit (PLDATA), but do i also need an alarm interface. The unit im installing ONLY starts the truck. no locks, no alarm. also the unit has a factory alarm disable function. I have installed it on a 02 silveradso, and 03 highlander

No need for a door lock interface module seeing that your using the OEM remote FOB. If the unit has a (-) OEM disarm wire, you have to use it to disable the system prior to remote starting. The PLDATA is all you need for both vehicles and to get the (-) trigger for the start sequence, you will need to grab the (-) trigger lock wire from the BCM * Under the driver side rear seat.. The door lock motor wires will not work because it is a (+) trigger ( unless of course you use a relay to reverse the polarity ).

Another thing to test does the factory keyless entry work with the trucks running? Most customers don't like the idea of being able to remote start it, but then not being able to unlock the truck to get in with the remote. On the silverado there is no need to hit the factory alarm disarm wire it shouldn't go off when starting. The trailblazer most likely will go off when starting and the factory alarm disarm is in the driver door. If you hit the unlock motor wires then you won't need to worry about any factory alarms since hitting unlock on the factory transmitter to activate the remote start will disarm the alarm.

The 20022 wants a single or double (depending on programming) negative pulse to activate as you know. If you hit the motor wires (+) you will need to add a relay as Jeff mentioned. Wire it up like so:

85: To (+) lock or unlock motor wire (which ever you choose)

86: To Ground

30: To Ground

87: To (-) Remote input wire on the 20022 unit.

Hope that helps to clear up any confusion. Good luck,

Mike

Velocity Motors,    I see your post about the BCM is this a single of dopuble pulse and what color wire. I know the BCM is under the steering on the Silverado. Where is the BCM for the Trail balzer?

Frank
