here is an odd one......van has a factory alarm system. customer states that car battery died and was replaced. the alarm started acting up after the new battery was installed. the horn no longer sounds once on arm and twice on disarm. its now once on disarm only and nothing on arm. the radio also acted up but has since corrected itself and is working fine. any ideas. the owners manual only talks about programing transmitters and nothing else. any help would be great.

thanks,
david

Ah i get to help you with a town and country. First things first is the check engine light on?

How long was the battery off the car?

If so take to autozone and have them look at the code or if you have a OBDII tool you can check and clear them yourself.

2nd did they try and Jump start the battery to get it going that would have caused a short in the Keyless/Alarm mod.

3rd now that the power has been restored you may have to "cold" boot the computer but please let me know about the other ?'s first

i agree with bmf1000d.....sounds like a factory OBD programming issue that you have there. you may want to have a quick look also to make sure that the factory alarm is not actually a factory keyless entry system with one of those aftermarket upgrade security modules added onto it. i find this to be a very popular item to be added on by the dealership to vehicles that don't actually have factory alarm, just a keyless entry system.....but to the consumer, it works just like a factory alarm.
