I installed an Audiovox APS-996 remote start alarm into a 99 Solara with the automatic headlamps. When the ignition is on, then the lights automatically turn on. The problem is that the headlamps turn off when the door is opened, not when the ignition turns off. Therefore, when the car is remote started, the headlights turn on, but after remote shutdown, the headlights remain on. I tried to pulse the door trigger with the "groound after shutdown" auxiliary output of the alarm, but it didn't shut off the headlamps. Anybody have any experience or tips on this one?

i'm assuming that prior to your installation of this alarm, the headlamps turned off when ignition was turned off, not when the door was opened.
although my memories of this audiovox unit are somewhat vague, it sounds to me like there must be a programming option to this unit that keeps the "accessory output" or "heater/acc output" live with +12v until a door is opened. you may need to look closely into the install manual to find this programming feature and turn it off.
i'd also suggest that you check to make sure that the primary ignition wire of your car is connected to the "ignition output" of the audiovox, rather than "accessory output" or any of the other wires.
good luck!

actually, the headlamps turned off upon opening the door prior to the alarm installation also.

i'm not familiar with this car, so i guess i really shouldn't be shooting my mouth off. your attempt to trigger the door switch with "ground after shutdown" is a step in the right direction though. does it need to see a stronger ground signal than what the audioxox outputs? howabout if you manually trigger that door switch upon ignition shutdown? if there is a factory alarm on this vehicle, does it make a difference on headlamp/door switch activation if the factory alarm is on or off?
on another note, it would not make sense that your headlamps stay on indefinitely after ignition is turned off without opening a door. i'm convinced that they probably only stay on for a few minutes at the most. otherwise, the driver MUST open a door every time he turns off the ignition. that can't be very convenient. is there a programming option from toyota that can change this feature?
sorry i don't have a more precise solution for you. good luck!

Hey jimmeezgolfvr6, actually there was a previous alarm. You're right that it doesn't make sense for the lamps to stay on after the ignition turns off. I am going to check for any leftover components from the prior alarm that may still be connected. Thanks for the direction.
