I'm in the middle of installing an aps 996 on my trans am.  I'm new to automotive electrical work so it's taking a while and I'm doing it in parts.  One major problem right now is that I can't get the system to arm.  The disarm function works fine, consistantly flashes the parking lights and inconsistantly unlocks the doors.  I've tried arming with both remotes, so I don't think it's a remote issue.  Both remotes work for disarming.

I'm wondering if maybe because I don't have everything connected yet, there's a missing necessary connection in order to arm the system.  Is there anything that needs to be installed in order to arm the system, but not to disarm it?

Also, I mentioned the door unlock function works inconsistantly.  I read that in order to make this work, the BCM (Body Control Module?) needs to be "waken up".  Does anyone know how wake it up?

Thanks,

Matt

The vehicle's Body Control Module goes to sleep after a few minutes and prevents the door lock/unlock system from working. You need to pulse the unlock wire (ORANGE / black) and the passenger's side doorpin (gray/black) with a ground pulse together. A double pulse may be required to unlock the doors. The lock wire is RED / black and requires a ground pulse to activate it. You must diode isolate the two unlock circuits.
