I have a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire and want to stop the odometer from rolling. I know it's illegal but i have a 5 year 100000km warranty and have 50,000 so far so u see what i'm getting at. I was wandering if i cut the vss wire at the ecm will that work. I have a manual car. Will it affect anything else on the car.

Any help would be greatly aprrieated

The milage gets recorded in three different places in the car. The dash reads off the ECU, that's it. There's next to nothing you can do.

what you mean, why is it that imports don't have the limiters and domostics don't. Listen, every time I race i end up losing cause my car stops just over 175km/h. I have morals and it's to have equality domestic and imports alike

just an observation here....   everyone jumps on this dude for what he wants to do ( which is a little weasely) because it's illegal.... point taken

so why doesnt anyone jump on all the guys asking for advice on hooking up video in the front seats so they can cruise down the highway watching a movie.... it's just as illegal and WAY more dangerous.....

just curious.....

"it's just as illegal"

Having a monitor in the front and odometer fraud are NOT in the same league..

As others mentioned I don't plan on giving any tips on how to stop your mileage from recording. There are already so many crappy car salesmen all we need are more people shelling out POS used cars with off mileage.

As far as the speed limiter be happy it's kicking in you shouldn't be racing at speeds like that assuming your talking about public roads. The suspension isn't equipped to handle those speeds, the tires normally aren't rated to handle those speeds, etc. Think of it as a life saver and be happy you have it.

Imports have rev limiter's ( unlike speed limiter's from GM ). The imports have this to protect the engine from over revving and causing damage to engine components. Speed limiter's protect the whole car from driveing outside it's performance limits. I'm not saying that it's not possible, just saying that car's are engineered to perform at peak levels and if the car has a speed limiter, the performance outside of this limit will not be as good as if you were to stay within the limits of the factory parameter's.

True but these limits are not imposed by the car manufactures, there imposed by government regulations. Thats why i wanna remove it. Maybe your right about the odometer, but the speed limiter is a nuisence. It should be limited a little higher, plus i don't  even get a chance to switch to gear 5 it shuts off at 175km/h in gear 4, Minus the tires i'm sure the car is capable of over 180km/h.
