I am planning on adding a proximity radar, glassbreak, and pager to my XUV.

I don't really want a full fledged alarm as I dont want starting, siren, etc.

The built-in security system covers most of my needs, all I need to know is if there is a wire that tells me when its armed.

The pager that I am considering is the DEI 795T.  I figure on connecting the glassbreak to one of its zones and the radar to the remaining two (inside, outside).  All I need is a way to turn this pager on and off based on the vehicles built-in security.

Thanks in advance.

If you want to add paging of any kind you will need to add a full alarm, it is not worth it any other way. There is no way to tie any pager to the factory remotes.

I think auex is right because there wont be any type of  wire that will tell you when its armed. Not directly anyway. The definite way to go is an upper end security system. They not only act as a security measure but sometimes add alot of features you may not be able to get on your vehicle from the factory (headlight automation, delayed accessory turn off and much more) Go for the alarm posted_image

Out of curiosity, what is your situation that makes you want the pager system?

The vehicles built-in security already controls lights, locks, horn, etc to my satisfaction.

I have read the specs to the highest end alarms and the only things they add is pager, remote start, shock/motion/radar.  I do not want remote start though I realize that I do not have to wire it in.

The problem with using one of these full sets is that it controls its own arm/disarm state which I will not accept, I want it slaved to the built-in security, no ifs ands or butts.  I did not come to this forum to listen to sales pitches.

And I have no interest in cutting into dozens of wires to add a box that will give me only a little more functionality.

My originally stated plan would require only a few wire taps, and all I am asking here is a straight answer as to which ones would do the trick.  Please stay on topic.

Again, what wire(s) best tell me when the factory security is armed or not?

Did I mention any brands? How in any way was my response a sales pitch? What I stated is that there is no way to tie a pager into the factory security because there is no wire that does anything when the factory security arms, withing reason( the only wire that does anything is a databus wire which you can't use for anything). Now you stay on topic and understand what I said. Also the fact that you said that you would have to cut into dozens of wires to install a security system shows your inexperience, you should listen and not assume that we are trying to sell you stuff.

Hmm, didnt realize anyone tried to sale you anything. Again, no wires will best tell you when the factory alarm is armed. Please re-read the posts above and through all the sales pitches you will read that it was stated in both previous posts.
