I know when you install an aftermarket HU in a lot of 00+ GM vehicles, you need to relocate the factory radio to retain certain features. (door chime, onstar, etc.) My question is how can you tell which ones need that for sure? I've been told that when the radio says RDS on it thats the give-away, but I don't know how legit that is. thanks

especially the ones with RDS.  those are a must.  they have the Road Data System wire for sure.  i think you can skip on cavaliers, sunfires, and s-10s with nothing more than losing the door chime and access to some of the cars features via the radio.  the radio acts as a user interface to control certain aspects of the car.  if you need to know what radios to relocate, open the door and see if the chime comes from the drivers door speaker posted_image .  finally, if the vehilce has on-star, dont touch the radio.  thats how on-star people talk to customers.  we had an Officer come in our bay asking what we were doing to the car... cause we started poking the on-star button after taking out, then putting the factory back in to see what it affected.

I know schosche makes relocation harnesses for onstar equipped vehicles.  The harness i found for those ran about $150.

Do you know the specific features that run through the radio. I know the chime and onstar if it is there, but what else????   thank you by the way.
