Hi. I recently purchased a clifford matrix 1 system to my Jetta 2003. I had purchased it mainly for the engine cut off. Since I had LOST one of my keyless remote....
What puzzled me is that I tested the alarm as it was armed and ringing, but I was 'able' to start my engine.
I called the Tech that had installed my alarm. He replied that the VW Keyless Remote has a chip in the key that 'bypasses the system and start the car'. If any other attempt (ie. hot wire) - the engine would not start.
Is this true? or did the tech installed it incorrectly??
I really need a VW or Keyless remote expert and Clifford Specialist for advice!! Please HELP me & respond.. thanks.

i think your technician is correct. typically, on vehicles that have factory immobilizers such as yours, technicians will not bother to connect the starter kill that comes with the alarm that they're installing. why bother with more work than is necessary, and cutting into more wiring than necessary? there really is no benefit to connecting that starter kill since your factory immobilizer is far better than any aftermarket starter kill. think of it this way....if someone can install it, then someone can remove it too. he's definitely right about your car not being able to be hot-wired.
however, having said that, it sounds like your technician wasn't really paying attention to what you probably have said to him...the whole reason for you to purchase an alarm was for the engine cut off feature since you've lost one of your factory keys! although the starter kill is not foolproof, it's certainly much much better to have in place if someone holding your lost key were to come along and try to start your car up.
realistically, if you're really paranoid about your car getting stolen, then you may have to bite the bullet and go back to a vw dealership to reprogram and rekey. the drawback is that it's really @#&% expensive. i think a 4-digit figure would not come as a surprise.

Switch blade keys run about 190 $ around here.

Hey thanks for the feedback. Is there someway to disable the locks only? I lost it close to my home and if that person to walk around pressing unlock.. My car would flash & open. I wonder if there's a switch or fuse that I'm able to disconnect?

Yeah, I looked into reprograming the keys and they quoted me $1200. Valet key was $195 and Full keyless is $250.

which specific fuse i'm not able to be certain, but if you have a look at your owner's manual, there should be a listing of the purpose of each fuse. best way to go about it is to start from there.
good luck!
