Hey TheRapture,

I have pictures of my mother-in-law that you can cut out in a heart shape and hang from your rear view mirror!  You should see people run when they look in my car!   posted_image

Hey TheRapture,

Don't tell me that it's never happened to you that you do an install and the product is defective leaving the person stranded.  When these things happen it usually hapens to a close friend, a family member or a referal . . . you know, somebody you see weekly and they remind you of it in front of others prompting you to say, "It's never happened before!  It's the first time!  It's a great product, promise!  My installs are always foolproof ! "    Then you go beet red and want to hide under the table! posted_image

This is why I say . . .

Here's my thought...

The standard warning device from an alarm company is the flashing LED. If someone were to put on a lime green scanner or 300 element zig zagging super bright LED array, I'd tend to believe the single flashing LED as an indicator of a security system. Anything else looks "toyish" to me.

Again, my opinion.

so the scanners and regular LED's are it?

Hey TheRapture,

I agree with Congo that sometimes too much is tacky and it removes the seriousness of a security system.  However there are cases where you need to put something extra.  Usually a single LED is a visual indicator of the alarms status but rarely can you put in dead center on the dash so you have to be beside the car to see it.  This is where LED scanners come in. It allows you to surface mount it on the dash near the windshield where it is visible at a greater distance so if you live on the tenth floor you don't have to go down in your boxers at two in the morning 'cause you're not sure whether or not the system is armed. posted_image

lol, I love the query function on my compustar. 2 way pagin is really nice. hit the query button and you have an instant status report of your ride!

I like the idea of a different colored led on the dash. mines blue and it really stands out.

Tell me what you think of this:

All 4 LED's are Bluish Green (MCD 10,400)

1. up top behind the rear view mirrow facing outward (toward the outside of course)

2. 1 by each corner of the window near the door handles (on a 2 door car)

3. 1 mounted in the "idiot light" in the top rear brake light

?????????????

I use a flasher unit from an old light, gas and water street marker. The kind with the round yellow plastic lense that they put  out where they have done street repairs.   I just removed everything from the case, added a fifty ohm series resistor so it can work at 12 volts. Since it uses a filament type incandescant bulb and flashes about twice a second, it is bright enough that I can see the flashes reflecting in the truck interior at night when I am looking out the window from about twenty feet away.  I've had it in operation for two years with the original bulb still working.
