Hello,
I live in The Netherlands. I just bought a Ford Escort CLX. Searching on the net I found that this is only an European model.
I bought an alarm system, so I started to search for wiring for my car. I have the feeling that is different than american model of Escort.
For example:
my car has centralized locking (no button based, but using the key).
In the documentation I received (from car alarm manufacturer and also I saw here on this site) is saying:
"must add actuator. This vehicle may be equipped with central locking but has no motor in the driver's door"
But my logic is saying: if my car can be closed ( centralised) from right too (passenger door) doesn't this mean that there should be an actuator in my left door?
Does this mean that the wiring is different too?

Hi,
Today I went to a specialist in installing alarms. He installed it, but I still have questions.
The alarm is a US Mannix 2-way alarm. Full of features.
Remote starter all people told me that is too dangerous to have. My car has manual transmission... So, no remote starter installed.
Next, anti-carjacking, last door arming, ignition lock... as he said couldn't work.
Parking timer from the remote, engine timer also cannot be counted. I suppose because the connection to the tachometer is not done. "Your car doesn't have pulses for the tachometer."
Is it true the tachometer thing? The alrm is saying "tach signal - AC input " or "Generator or Oil sensor - DC input".
Does my car has one of these?
And, question 2 is about a microwave sensor. Installed, but the sensor doen't seem so good. If i put the hand inside the car I really have to move it for a while to activate it :(.. the sensor is a Invisiguard microwave sensor).
Thanks for reading all my story. I'm looking forward for your answers.

the tach would be used for the remote start anyways. As for the sensor i would have go back and have it adjusted the way you like it, atleast thats what i do for my customers

Today, after i read again the book of the alarm I found that the installer mixed the IG1 with the Starter wire (their connection into the alarm). After this was fixed, the automatic door locking was ok (before, when I was using that feature was locking the car with me inside driving...)
Then, I insisted to the guy to connect to the tachometer or the "Generator" (as in the alrm book is saying). I couldn't convince him that my car has the proper signal for the tachometer, but I convinced him to try with the Generator. Once this done, the " IGLock" (door closing when you put the key to ON and press the brake, and unlocking when you stop the engine) was working too.
So, at the end, I accepted that "remote starter" is to dangerous for my car, and I am lad that al the other functions now give the expected results.
(Ok, the guy who installed it is a professional,... just that like most of us the reading of the manual/book is just as the last resort).

Few more questions...
The car alarm installed is a Mannix SM700.
Full of features.
The people from support Mannix USA emphasized to me that remote starter it will be safe for manual gear cars as long as I will use remote start reservation ( and for this is a swith on the alarm brain). Tomorrow I will go to the friend that installed it and I will ask him to instal the remote starter and anti-carjacking feature too. So far so good.
The microwave sensor I took it off. Too many fake alarms and no possibility to remotely disconect it. Will the shock sensor be enough?
As about shock sensor, it's a dual stage one. ,... at the beginning was on the dashboard set to maximum of sensitiviness, just above my knees. Then I read in the alarm manual that would be better if would be attached to the body frame of the car. Now it is installed on the metal frame (in the left side, on the clutch pedal level).
But... The sensitivity look slike is just on the left side... in right I can strongly kick my car and nothing hapen
Where should I ask the installer to put this sensor...?
Thank you guys for your support!
