Does anybody know how to disable the built in transponder on a VW Golf 4 ? (2001-2002).

Customer lost one key and one it was used for remote start in the DEI 55U module.

Only way to disable the VW system is with a spare key through a universal bypass module, then hooking up the ground out when running wire to constant ground and the power wire to ignition. After this you can just use regular cut keys without having to have the transponder key to start the vehicle. Aside from this, the customer will need to go back to VW and get another key ordered with the proper coded key.

I need to totally disable it or remove it.

Does the system cut for fuel or ignition or what exactly does it cut ? I just want to get rid of the system once and for all.

VW will take a fortune for a new key with the code.

It's more trouble than it's worth, to try and disable it.

You could pop the transponder pick up ring off the barrel, and tape the valid bow to it, stuff it in the dash. now the cars sees the transponder 24/7.

Yeah i would just bypass it permently and not remove it. A new key from VW is 140 bucks here.
