I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP

I've installed the 550esp before but in an 89 pickup, so I have experience. But there's certain aspects I have questions about pertaining to a grand prix install.

1. It appears that the door locks need certain care in order to be operated by this system. Does anyone remember or have a wire by wire guide pertaining to this? Do I need the 451m, and if so...which wire goes where?

2. There is various outputs on the module that supposedly require a relay. My question is that if the current alarm system controls this, then would there already be a really that I could tap into?

That's all...for now

1. Lock is lt.blue and unlock is white and they are - trigger. So hook the green wire lock wire off of the alarm directly to the lt.blue and the blue unlock off of the alarm direclty to the white wire.

2. What is the "current alarm"? If you want to add options such as domelight supervision or any of the accessory ouptuts off of the alarm you will need a relay, unless it is going directly to a module that requires only a low level input.

1. I don't know what it's saying about certain care to run the door locks, but the info I have says they are negative lt. blue(lock) and white(unlock) in the driver's kick panel. You shouldn't need the 451M to run those unless you want to do driver's priority unlock.

2. It depends on whether the factory system uses a relay or an output built into the body control module. Which outputs specifically are you referring to there?

Also, the Grand Prix has GMs Passkey III immobilizer, so you'll need DEI part 555G or 555U to bypass that for remote start; and there are separate wires for the driver's door trigger and the passenger doors.
Good luck

1.I am relieved to find the door locks will be easier than I thought.

2.  I am referring more specifically to the trunk release and the domelight supervision.  I was hoping maybe someone had experience on this vehicle and they new of a pre-existing relay.

Thanks for the responses

You need to add relays in order to use the domelight supervision and the trunk release.

You should be able to run the domelight supervision output from the 791 straight to one of the door triggers on this vehicle (although the manual probably says that it should only be used with a relay, on this vehicle the door triggers draw hardly any current). The trunk release will need to have a relay since it is a positive control and the 791's output is negative.

if you are doing remote start youll need a 555U and a second key from a dealer.  the car has passkey 3.  as far as domelight, use the door trigger.  it is tan in the drivers kick.  its a neg. trigger but the brain can only supply (-) 200mA.  id suggest using a relay, you dont want to hurt the brain over time.  if you decide to use a relay (which will only take a few seconds) take the BLACK/ white dome light wire to 85, constant 12v to 86, take 87 to the chasis ground, and 30 to the door trigger.  as for the trunk, you have to make the (-) trigger become (+).  take the RED / white trunk to 85, then take 86 and 87 to constant 12v, and take 30 to the BLACK/ white wire at the switch.
