More range from Matrix 3.5

I've installed a clifford matrix 3.5 alarm into my  97 civic, using 10 gauge power and ground wires.  My antenna is mounted at the top of the windshield, by the rear view mirror, and I'm not satisfied with the range that I'm getting from my remote.  Suggestions?

can you receive the signal from 6-7 houses down from urs? if so, thats about as good as it get.

try untangle the antenna from the left over length, some isntaller on this forum advise this idea and i guess seems to work... so try it out.

Yea take all the extra wire and keep it nice and neat in the headliner instaed of bundled up in the dash.

Directed claims 2 miles of range from this alarm, i know that won't happen, but now I get about 6-7 houses or range, and i'd like to get more.

then get a compustar......lol...j/k
the advertise range for DEI is 1.25 miles

1.25 miles if over 6000 feet. I've never heard of any alarm compustar or not that will ACCUALLY wrk from that distance. 2000ft seems a little more realistic from the DEI pieces.

thats funny... i have all the Matrix retail brochures here and they claim about 400 meters range... thats 1200 ft for you southerners.... and thats about what it does consistently......

where did you read that they claim 2 miles?????

ive never see anything more than 1/4 mile advertised.  anyway, you should mount the antenna then take the brain end down to the brain and plug it in, then pull it tight (leave some if you need to move the brain later) to the top of the A pillar, then run the wire back and forth in the headliner until you run out of slack.  also, if you notice a huge reduction in range, unplug the antenna then plug it back in.  we've had a few cars almost stop responding all together, so we tried that trick and it seems to work.  and make sure you arent still using the battery that came with it.

you all can thank DEI for the crappy range that everybody is getting these days  i have been doing this stuff for 13 years and can remember getting about 3\4 mile with a harada2way piece about 5 years ago also the original dei 550hf was getting a good 1\4-1\2 mile now try your esp unit how about 500ft whats up with that . the whole reason for a 2way system is so you will know when it goes off or to verify if your car started so i think that until the range gets better that these systems are useless because you can still hear the alarm going off while you are out of range . also the compustar isnt all its cracked up to be
