My old man had a car starter installed in his 2001 impala and when he turns the key off the park lights are apparently staying on, but they will go off if you lock the car then unlock it.  Also, he says that if he auto starts it and auto shuts it off the park lights will stay on no matter what.  But in the day time it seems to work normally.  I have never heard of this before and I have no idea what to tell him, the shop that installed it is 4 hours from him and I am 10 hours.  Any help is appreciated

i would try to disconnect the parking light wire. that way you will be able to see if its the alarm.....itmay be the day light sensor...

this is the parking light wire info:
Parking Lamp BROWN / WHITE (+) AT JUNCTION BLOCK IN PASSENGER KICK
