I've got some problems with a Mannix SM700 alarm (and have emailed the distributor who was less than helpful.)
Problem 1... I'm in Australia. The vehicle I'm installing into is a 1996 Toyota Hiace diesel van. This vehicle is very popular here, but the guy from Mannix has never heard of this model, so no wiring guide... anyone know another name for this vehicle??
Problem 2 ... Vehicle and alarm were given to a professional installer. Result = 10 HOURS of labor and then gave up, claimed alarm was doing strange things, so he removed it again. At least I didn't get charged. Now i've decided to install it myself (I usually do alarms on houses)... I want to start from scratch with the programming, but the remote will not re-learn with the brain... Is there any way to default the unit to make it 'lose' its association with the remote??
Problem 3 ... Hood switch input will not reset. It is always showing the hood as being open... but the input wire is not connected to anything as the vehicle does not even have a hood... I have tried grounding the input and then trying again, but no luck. Whenever I arm the system, I get an alarm sounding due to the hood not being secure.. This is still the case even when I unplug the unput connector block.. I'm starting to think this may be a warranty claim... Anyone know of any issues with this??
Thanks in advance....
The 1996 Toyota Hiace diesel van you will need to meter all your wires. I'm thinking that most of the common Toyota wires will be the same but the wires for the alarm will be simple to do. If this is also a remote starter, then you will have some troubles finding the wait to start wire and the tach..
From what you are saying about the hood wire, make sure that it is not grounding out somewhere along the way. If the wire is totally free of metal and you are still getting an error of " hood open " then I would say that the CPU was damaged somehow.

if this is the same alarm as my friend got from ebay, then i might be of some help
Although, my friends remote has stoped working with the brain as well, and we have no idea how to make it work again, we tried the instructions but no luck. Anyways, i wouldn't know the wire colors, but if you have other questions i might be able to help, let me know. I have the instuction manual right here with me
Hi again, thanks for the replies... It seems I may have a problem with the CPU...
Thanks eblend, but i've got the manual too.... my remote IS working, I want the alarm to lose its affiliation with the remote so I can start over again, but I don't know how to default it.... probably needs to be done at the factory, there's nothing in the manual about it....
I'll email Mannix AGAIN and see if I can get it fixed under warranty.... I can see the postage for this getting very expensive
Cheers.
Yes I had the sam problem with mine. The tech support and customer support is a joke.

I wasted $200 to have a pro tell me the alarm is junk. I guess the good go with the bad. Bought a Viper alarm and all is good.
