Hello, I have a Rattler car alarm in my truck and I also have a backup siren.  I had this alarm professionally installed so while I'm not blind to electronics I have to admit I don't know where to begin on the technical aspects of car alarms.

Anyhow I'm attempting to install a new car stereo, and when I disconnect the negative battery cable the backup siren goes off as it should.  Problem is I can't figure out how to turn this off.  I notice the backup siren has a keyswitch on the back but when I tried turning the key the siren goes on and not off.  I know this must be a very simple thing for me to do but I can't figure out how to turn this off.  As I said anytime I remove the negative battery cable it starts the backup siren and also when I turn the key, the neighbors I'm sure will get annoyed if I can't find the fastest way to turn this off lol

Any help is appreciated.

Jerry

your key should turn off the back up battery

There are 3 positions the key can be in....Always on, always off, and normal operating position. It would be in the normal operating position now. You have to turn it past the always on position before you get to the Off position, so try turning the key farther.

find the siren, and rip it out. the siren may have a battery back up, so this will either have to be removed, or destroyed...but you said you had a truck right? : )
