I’m installing a remote start alarm. I have a 5sp and I was in the middle of hooking it up and I just realized that I hooked up my starter wire from the alarm to my starter wire on the ing harness. Now Can I just cut the 2 wires that go into the clutch switch and splice them together so it thinks that Im pressing the clutch in so my remote start will work. Because my wires are all soldered and I don’t want to redo anything.
Also I have a 93 ford probe gt 5sp
best way to answer that would be to check if you can key start your car without stepping on your clutch upon having connected those 2 wires together. i would say yes, but sometimes there's more than on set of wires and switches on a clutch and i can't remember if that's the case for your car.
good luck!
I just connected the two wires together and the car will start now with out pressing the clutch so hopefully when I finish my alarm it will also remote start.
you could also put a relay in line with that wire that opens the circuit when the alarm is active asa starter kill, or use the signal from that wire (if you left the original module in place) that triggered the alarm and a starter kill when the clutch is depressed. just keep in mind what you want to work when the alarm is armed and what you want to still work when it is not active. you don't want your car to starter kill when the alarm is not armed and you are trying to use the car. i don't know if this helps you or not, but i thought i'd share some ideas i had to make a more effective alarm system. i personally would have left the factory switch intact and just used a relay to short across the switch when the remote start is used, this way, your car is still safe and legal... you probably have a second ignition wire that you could hook this up to anyway.
