I am wanting to add a manual fuel cut off switch in my car but I still want the remote start to work. I know that it can work with a simple SPST relay but I am unsure about how to hook the wires up. Basically this is what I want it to do:
1. If the remote start is used, then allow the vehicle to start regardless of position of the manual switch
2.If the key is used to start, then the manual switch will need to be set to "on" in order to allow fuel pump to get power.
One suggestion I have seen is this:
Pins 87 & 30 = cut fuel pump wire in half and attach one end to 87 and the other end to 30
Pin 86 = "true" ignition that shows 12v while key is at "ON" or "START" position
Pin 85 = "Status Output" of remote starter.
But what gets hooked up to 87a?
Any help would be greatly appreicated and diagram would be even better.

Almost right. Cut the fuel pump wire and attach the cut leads to terminals 87a and 30. Terminal 86 to igniton (fuse the wire at 5 amps for safety). Terminal 85 to a switch. The other contact on the switch to ground. Closing the switch will cause the relay to open the fuel pump wire and prevent the car from starting. You can also substitute the switch circuit to the #85 terminal with a starter kill output from the remote starter if it has one. The relay will do the same thing as the starter kill output will provide the relay with ground until the remote starter's unlock feature is activated.
A safer method of disabling the car would be to use the starter solenoid wire instead of the fuel pump wire. Murphy was an optimist. Things break and if it does break while you are driving, having the car stall while driving is dangerous. If the starter bypass circuit fails, the worst that's going to happen is that your car won't start. To allow the remote starter to bypass your bypass, you will have to power up the fuel pump side cut wire with an ignition output from your remote starter.

Hook it up just like you described, except add one thing. Run a wire from your manual switch to pin 86 also. You may want to diode isolate them also.Connect the other side of the manual switch to ground. That way, the engine will only get fuel when either the switch is on triggering the relay, or else the remote start triggers the relay. Oh, and just leave 87a empty.

I need both a manual switch and remote start ability. That way if I use the remote start the fuel pump will get gas and start or if I use the key then the manual switch will need to be in position to close the circuit to allow fuel pump to get power.
Remote start = doesn't matter which way manual switch is set...allow car to start
Key = manual switch must be set to "on" to allow fuel pump to get power
If I have just misunderstood what you said then please forgive me and take no offense....just want to be certain before I start cutting wires.
Also, I completely agree with what you are saying about the starter solenoid but could the car still be started by jumping it? I wouldn't think so.
