Im getting ready to install my keyless entry on my 99 Integra and Im just curious to know where people generall put the valet button, blinking led, and the actual keyless unit.  Where is all of this mounted and where do I splice into the wires at?

Generally the valet button is hidden somewhere. Put the blinking LED anywhere you like. The actual unit is usually mounted under the dash on the drivers side for easy access to the wiring. As far as splicing the wires see the diagram below.

Why would a KE module have a valet and a LED ?? Just wondering which brand you have ?

i have a 95 integra that i put a keyless entry / alarm into. For the valet button i put it in the coin tray on the left side next to the steering wheel. For the LED i drilled a hole in those plastic insert things right next to the E-brake. There is 4 little pieces of plastic in there and i just popped one out and drilled the hole right in the middle put the LED in and snapped it back in place and ran the wire back to the module. For the module location... when you take off the dash behind where the coin tray goes there is a metal bracket where one of the screws goes in to hold the dash up. I put my module right in that metal bracket. It was a perfect fit in there and then it doesn't slide around at all. Good luck with the installation.

Anyways, I just finished my install - well 95% done, just need to place the LED.  But thanks for the info guys - as for the valet I dont know why, but mostly the button is to switch to programming mode.  The LED is a fake "alarm" signal, if you will.  It does a reall good job - its an AutoLoc K600 (dont know exact model)

Right now im debating if I should hook the horn up, because all i have is parking lights, ignition kill, and door lock/unlock.

If you hook up the horn, the deciding factor will be how long the pulsed signal is on the AutoLoc unit will be. Some units have a .75 sec pulse while other's have a 1.25 second pulse and this is way to long for the horn to engage when unlocking and locking the doors. If you find that the duration is too long, then you can either disconnect this option or use capacitors to cut down the duration of the pulse.

OK, well Im going to go ahead and test out to see if the horn will work or not - But can I just splice into the horn wire from the relay thats doing the parking light pulse??

Alrighty - Im guessing that the answer is NO since the wire for the headlights get a +12v, while the horn only has to be grounded to honk...

Is that correct?

That is correct.

Is there anyway around this problem or is it a lost cause??  posted_image

Well I would imagine you could diode isolate it and run it to another relay where you could wire it for negative output. Have a look at the relay section here as well as the diode section and it should help you.

OK, so since my lights are + trigger, and the horn is a - trigger would it work to hook another relay up like so:

85 :spliced from trigger wire from unit
86 + 30 :12v stream
87 :wire to horn ground

Hey guys, I've been having some trouble getting the horn to work right.  The relay doesnt seem to be wired right so I guess I'm doing something wrong.  I tried hooking it up like the following, and didnt get anything..

30: Ground
85: Ground
86: Spliced from lights signal wire (12v)
87: Horn wire

In theory it should work - I can even feel the relay click.  When 12v is applied to 86, a connection should be made from 87 to 85, grounding the horn wire which is all that should be needed to get it to honk.  Am I doing something wrong guys??  All your help is appreciated.  posted_image

That looks like it should work. You havent blown the horn fuse along the way have you? Aside from that I would verify you have the horn wire since Im not sure where you interfaced it. Let us know

OK, heres for future reference.  The wireless/keyless unit is actually grounding the wire already so heres the answer..

86: signal wire (its actually -)
85: 12v
30: ground
87: horn

That worked like a charm - only trouble is now I need to reduce the time the relay is open (horn is too annoying).  Like the capacitor idea stated previously.  Could anyone elaborate on that one?

OK from your previous post it looked like you were taking the hot feed from the park light flash relay and going to your other relay. You got it now. I havent heard of the capacitor trick but, Id like to.
