Hey everyone...long time no talk. Ok I am putting a Valet 554R on a 2001 dodge ram without factory alarm. EVERYTHING is working great, except when i get in to turn the key after a remote start it grinds. Anybody have any ideas?? I have the wires hooked up according to the daigram available at www.designtech-intl.com. Thanks a lot in advance!

Do you mean it grinds when you turn the key to start and the car is already running? or do you mean you just turn the key to the on position and it grinds. If you have an anti-grind relay, then cut it out and dont use it, Just remember not to turn the key to the start position after it has been remote started. I have had a lot of problems with Dodge vehicles and anti-grind relays so if they ever give me trouble I cut em out. If you have one installed, how do you have it wired?

The starter grinds only if i turn it as if i were cranking the car.

so did you cut the starter wire during the install and add an anti-grind relay? If you did, then you installed it wrong or it is a faulty relay or diode. If you didn't install a relay then everything works fine and you should simply not turn the key that far.

I agree with both posts above me, either install a starter kill relay and make sure that the anti grind feature is on or don't turn the key that far.
