Hi,
I actually paid a "professional" to install an Avital remote starter in my 2002 Sierra Denali Pickup. I think they really botched it. When the door locks are activated using the Avital I do not get the puddle or courtesy lamps turned on. The remote start does work, but when it shuts down on timeout the radio stays on. They were also supposed to trigger the rear window defroster using the trunk button (2nd channel?) but hwile there is a wire snaked under the dash from the defroster button, it isn't connected to anything and has never worked.
Any advice? I've installed remote starters in the last few vehicles I owned and I really wish I had done this one myself - but it is complicated. Anyone have the wiring info on the defroster?
Thank You,
Jim

Well, for the courtesy lamps, this is an additional option and may not have been mentioned to be hooked up. The radio tends to stay on until the door is opened from the factory so it will stay on until a door is opened when remote started, you can get around this but this too would probably be considered an option considering it requires additional parts. Also options cost extra(usually because they take a little more time and usually require additional relays or misc supplies) so if you payed to have them hooked up then take it back and ask them to complete the job, if you didn't pay then either go back and ask them to add them or do it yourself and save a few bucks. As for the defroster, that sounds like it is his fault it didn't get hooked up.
