Hmmm, interesting, I've never thought of this before.

I was riding in my friend's Jeep Wrangler, and it has manual locks.
I said, "You should get a keyless entry system."
She said, "I take the doors off every now and then, so you probably can't do that."

That never dawned on me, so I wondering if anyone has experienced this.
I'm sure it could be done...maybe with some quick connectors that could
be undone if you're going to take off the door.

Any ideas on this?

WELL I HAVE A QUESTION DO ALL JEEPS THAT THE DOOR COMES OFF HAVE NO POWER DOOR LOCKS??????ARE THEY ALL MANUAL??? BECAUSE I FTHEY HAVE POWER DOOR LOCKS AND YET THE DOOR COMES OF THEN I DONT SEE WHY IT WOULD BE HARDER THAN ANY OTHER KEYLESS INSTALL.

I'm not sure, that's a good question. I'm thinking the ones that have keyless entry don't have removeable doors?...but I'm just guessing.

I wonder how you can have keyless entry and a removeable door.

You could probably use those "contact pads", not sure what they call them, but they have metal "dots" and when the door is shut, the contacts are connected, but you would be able to take the door off. I wish I knew what the hell they were called.

I'd try contacting your local Chysler dealer to see if an OEM switch exist for your vehicle, but you may be able to use a van switch on each door simliar to the one shown here:

wow, so in theory, if you put one side on the car
and the other side on the door, and then wire up
an actuator in the door...when you close the door
it completes the contact (as if there were a wire there?)
and it will control the actuator?

i've never seen that before, awesome!

All wranglers have removeable doors, and there is no power lock option. I know because I own one and am going to be installing actuators in the doors with the van contact panels as previously mentioned.
